SWIFT™ - Translating Customer Insights into Tangible Improvements

Our Methodology - SWIFT™

We tap into the inherent talents, insights and intellectual capital that you have built into your company. You have grown the business to where it is today because of the talents of your people. We’ve seen that while many organizations have extraordinarily talented employees, they often work in silos and not as a cohesive team. We can leverage these skills and show you how you can take your company to a whole new level of competitiveness.

Stone Soup Approach:

Delivering Compelling Solutions By Collaborating and Tapping Into Talents Of Your People

According to the story, few hungry travelers come to a village carrying nothing more than an empty pot. Upon their arrival, the villagers are unwilling to share any of their food stores with the hungry travelers as they are facing hard times themselves. The travelers fill the pot with water, drop a large stone in it, and place it over a fire in the village square.

One of the villagers becomes curious and asks what they are doing. The travelers answer that they are making "stone soup", which tastes wonderful, although it still needs a little bit of garnish to improve the flavor, which they are missing. The villager didn't mind parting with just a little bit of flour to help them out, so it gets added to the soup. Another villager walks by, inquiring about the pot, and the travelers again mention their stone soup which hasn't reached its full potential yet. The villager hands them a little bit of seasoning to help them out. More and more villagers walk by, each adding another ingredient that was missing. Finally, a delicious and nourishing pot of soup is produced by the travelers with the help of villagers and enjoyed by all.

As villagers were asking for the secret of the soup, one of the travelers said “While there may be no real secret to stone soup, one thing is certain: it takes many and all to make great feast." and likewise it takes true collaboration to produce a great solution.

SWIFT™ Approach to Implementations (what we recommend)

Non-SWIFT™ Approach to Implementations (what we do not recommend)

Why SWIFT™ iterative approach to implementations?

The idea is simple. Establish baseline by building the minimum viable product — The minimum viable product is that version of a solution which allows a team to collect the maximum amount of validated learning about customers with the least effort.

Then, in each development cycle, use the insights gained by studying customers and make improvements. This is the source of validated learning — proof that the customer insights translate into tangible improvements.

Based on our experience we have realized that:
» Users are not sure exactly what they want even though on a broader scale they know the objectives.
» Users have difficulty in stating all they want and all they know.
» Many details of what they want are only revealed during development.
» The details are overwhelmingly complex for users to deal with upfront.
» As users see product develop, they change their minds and/or clarify their decisions.
» An external force such as newly released feature or competitor’s product/service also leads to changes or enhancement requests.

SWIFT™ Benefits:
» Primary value is in delivering working software that meets business requirements. We will work in small iterative cycles of constant continuous short feedback loops reducing the risk and increasing the transparency.
» The secondary value is the degree of knowledge transfer attained by customer team by being active participants in the implementation process.
» A third benefit is the fact that many of the training/process materials will be used for future reference.
» Truly Collaborative, smart and empowering as the entire team is working in shorter iterations constantl adjusting themselves for higher effectiveness
» Sustainable and successful
» The only way to reduce uncertainty and gain knowledge is to execute –to build something and then get feedback.
» SWIFT ™ approach is more focused on actually delivering value to the business rather than making outrageous plans that can’t be met and creating documents that are going to be obsolete.
» Make project decisions based on data, culture and purpose
» Regularly inspect the progress and metrics, and adapt the plan
» Our project management approach is going to be “Plan-Do-Adapt” which results in a continual feedback process, unlike a traditional “Plan-Plan-Plan-Do” approach.
